Ryan Gosling & Emily Blunt Shine at ‘The Fall Guy’ Premiere
Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt made headlines at the global premiere of their film, “The Fall Guy,” surprising fans with their arrival at The Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas, on a pickup truck during the SXSW Conference and Festival.
Before stepping into the theater for photos, the stars took a moment to greet their admirers. Gosling sported a crimson members-only jacket featuring the movie’s title, paired with trousers, while Blunt opted for a cropped black and white argyle shirt with black pants.
The plot follows Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman who, after a year-long hiatus focusing on his well-being, is thrust back into action when the star of a mega-budget studio movie, directed by his ex, Jody Moreno (played by Emily Blunt), goes missing. Hanna Waddingham, an Emmy winner for “Ted Lasso,” portrays the merciless producer attempting to conceal the disappearance of star Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Golden Globe winner for “Bullet Train”) from the studio and the public. Colt’s attempts at outrageous stunts to win Jody back prove unsuccessful.
The star-studded cast includes Winston Duke from “Black Panther,” Teresa Palmer from “Warm Bodies,” and Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu. The screenplay, penned by Glen A. Larson and Drew Pearce, found its director in David Leitch.
Inspired by the 1980s TV series, “The Fall Guy” features Gosling and Blunt, who recently shared the Oscars stage, engaging in friendly banter at Barbeneheimer, a 2023 summer movie event named after both “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” films. Gosling, nominated for best supporting actor for his role as Ken in “Barbie,” and Blunt, nominated for best supporting actress for portraying Kitty Oppenheimer in “Oppenheimer,” playfully acknowledged their supposed rivalry during the awards season.
During their Oscars moment, Gosling humorously remarked, “I’m just glad we can finally leave this Barbenheimer rivalry in the past.” Blunt added, “Look at Ken and Kitty just walking away from all that garbage.” Congratulating their success, Gosling teased them about the event’s name.
In response to Blunt’s inquiry, Gosling explained, “I believe I’ve discovered why it’s called Barbenheimer rather than Oppenbarbie.” Blunt jokingly accused him of “kensplaining,” prompting Gosling to suggest they stop the banter and focus on commemorating the stunt community.
“The Fall Guy” is scheduled for a theatrical release on May 3, promising an exciting cinematic experience.
