Purnea (Bihar) 30th January: In a recent rally held in Purnea, Bihar, Rahul Gandhi, a prominent Congress MP, voiced strong criticism against Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his abrupt decision to align with the NDA, stating that Nitish Kumar tends to make quick policy reversals when faced with even minor pressure. A little pressure is exerted, and he (Nitish Kumar) makes a U-turn…” said Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi emphasized that the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ (grand alliance) in Bihar, formed for the cause of social justice, no longer requires Nitish Kumar’s involvement.
During the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Gandhi expressed concern about the underrepresentation of Dalits and backward classes in various sectors across the nation. He underscored the necessity for a caste-based census to accurately determine the population of different social groups.
Kumar’s surprising move on Sunday, leaving the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ to forge a new alliance with the BJP, prompted Gandhi’s reaction. Gandhi reiterated the alliance’s commitment to championing social justice in Bihar without Nitish Kumar’s participation.

Adding a touch of humor (Chutkula) Gandhi shared an anecdote about Kumar’s frequent political flip-flops. He recounted an incident where Kumar, after the swearing-in ceremony, realized he had left his shawl behind, leading to a quick U-turn to retrieve it.
The departure of JD(U) chief Nitish Kumar from the opposition bloc INDIA is considered a setback for the alliance formed to counter the BJP in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP has downplayed the significance of the INDIA bloc, dismissing it as an “alliance of greed.”

Meanwhile, BJP National President JP Nadda dismissed the unity of the opposition, asserting that neither their numerical strength nor their coordination is effective. Nadda’s remarks came after the BJP’s success in the Chandigarh mayoral polls against the Congress-AAP alliance. The political landscape in Bihar continues to evolve with these dynamic developments, setting the stage for further political maneuvering and strategic alignments.
