In an exciting clash between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the WPL, Jemimah Rodrigues stole the limelight with a spectacular 26-ball half-century. Her brilliant performance propelled Delhi Capitals to a competitive 181 for 5, but the young off-spinner Shreyanka Patil’s four-wicket haul for 26 runs applied the brakes on DC’s scoring in the closing stages.
Facing an enthusiastic holiday crowd, Rodrigues showcased an array of shots, including sweeps, cuts, pulls, and a stunning inside-out lofted drive. She partnered effectively with Alice Capsey, who contributed a crucial 48 off 32 balls during their impressive 97-run stand for the third wicket.
Before this dynamic duo took center stage, Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning set the tone with a solid 54-run opening partnership. However, their swift dismissals preceded Rodrigues and Capsey’s explosive performance.

Known for her touch play, precise timing, and clever placements, Rodrigues secured eight fours and a six. Her milestone moment came with a commanding shot off leg-break bowler Georgia Wareham, lofted over extra cover.
A standout moment was Rodrigues’ inside-out loft, narrowly missing long-off and reaching the boundary. Paired with Capsey, Rodrigues faced more deliveries initially, allowing Capsey to increase the scoring rate later. However, Rodrigues fell short of a larger score, bowled round the legs while attempting a paddle sweep against Shreyanka’s full-toss.

In the same match, Alice Capsey showcased her prowess with eight boundaries, consistently finding the gaps in the field. Despite her efforts, Shreyanka’s impressive last couple of overs restricted DC to just nine runs during the crucial phase.
The nail-biting last-ball thriller concluded with Delhi Capitals securing a one-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore. Richa Ghosh’s swift half-century led RCB’s spirited chase, but needing 2 runs off the final delivery, Richa was run out at the non-striker’s end.
Delhi Capitals: Meg Lanning (captain), Shafali Verma, Alice Capsey, Jemimah Rodrigues, Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, Arundhati Reddy, Taniya Bhatia (wicketkeeper), Radha Yadav, Shikha Pandey, Titas Sadhu
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Smriti Mandhana (captain), Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh (wicketkeeper), Disha Kasat, Georgia Wareham, Sophie Molineux, Shreyanka Patil, Asha Shobana, Shradda Pokharkar, Renuka Singh
As the tournament heads into a crucial phase with only four league-stage matches remaining, Delhi Capitals slipped to the second spot on the points table after Mumbai Indians’ recent win over Gujarat Giants. RCB, currently positioned third, must secure a win in at least one of their remaining two matches to stay in contention for the playoffs.

The Sports 18 network will provide live broadcast coverage, while the JioCinema app offers live streaming of the match.
