Amidst this development, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has escalated its criticism against Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, Sunita Kejriwal.
“Even in such a situation, he is not thinking about himself, but the people of Delhi and their problems,” remarked AAP leader Atishi.
The BJP has persistently demanded that Arvind Kejriwal step down from the chief ministerial post. Nevertheless, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has affirmed that he will continue to govern from jail, emphasizing their commitment to serving the people of Delhi.
Manoj Tiwari, a BJP MP, sharply criticized Arvind Kejriwal’s plan to lead from behind bars on Saturday, claiming that prisons are meant to house criminals, not governments. Tiwari persisted in his assault on Sunday, taking aim at Kejriwal’s spouse, Sunita Kejriwal, who had delivered the chief minister’s message to Delhi the day before.
“If you think about the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal…you will think of a story titled ‘From Swaraj to Alcohol’… Arvind Kejriwal seems solely concerned about moving into a palace as soon as possible,” Tiwari said, reflecting on the news of Kejriwal’s detention.
Tiwari’s rebuke didn’t spare Sunita Kejriwal. He stated, “Sunita Kejriwal gave an interview yesterday while sitting on the CM’s chair, showing no sense of shame… There is a growing consensus that the ED and CBI are performing commendably. While some corrupt individuals criticize them, before 2014, these agencies didn’t operate with such vigor.
The Congress government didn’t empower them as they had to shield corruption within the party… Since 2014, under Narendra Modi’s leadership, these agencies have been granted unprecedented autonomy.”
Arvind Kejriwal remains in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate until March 28, after which he has petitioned the Delhi High Court contesting his arrest.
“Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to the Delhi High Court, asserting the unlawfulness and illegality of his arrest. He contends that his custody granted to the ED until March 28 is also unlawful, urging immediate relief.
However, the Delhi High Court declined an immediate hearing and refrained from issuing a stay on any order… Upon reviewing all documents and evidence, the courts have deemed the proceedings fully compliant with the law.
Two days ago, an attempt was made to escalate the case to the Supreme Court at midnight. Arvind Kejriwal was compelled to withdraw his petition from the Supreme Court as well,” stated Sambit Patna.
