Late Monday night, the Chhapar police station in Muzaffarnagar encountered a wanted criminal riding a bike, identified as Rusab alias Saurabh, with a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head. The police, during a routine vehicle check on the Basera Bhokarhedi road, signalled Rusab to stop. However, he attempted to flee, resulting in a chase. The pursuit concluded when Rusab’s bike collided with Rajbehe’s culvert, causing him to fall. Surrounded by police, the miscreant opened fire, prompting retaliatory gunfire that injured him in the leg.
Recovered Items and Criminal Background:
- The police recovered Rusab’s bike, a ring, a pistol, and cartridges.
- Interrogation revealed Rusab’s identity and residence as Salempur alias Faizipur, Bijnor.
- Rusab, a notorious robber, was wanted in two robbery cases at the Ramraj police station, with a reward of Rs 10,000.
- Nine cases are registered against Rusab across different police stations.
- The criminal had previously looted gold earrings in Purkaji, leading to a reward announcement.
