Kejriwal Seeks Insulin in Jail: AAP Alleges Conspiracy to Kill, LG Expresses Concerns

Kejriwal Seeks Insulin in Jail. Read!

Delhi cabinet minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi made startling allegations on Thursday, asserting that there was a concerted effort to harm Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently under arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the excise policy case. Atishi went on to claim that while in jail, the Delhi CM was deprived of access to his home-cooked meals and insulin, despite his medical needs.

However, these assertions were promptly refuted by the authorities overseeing the jail. During a recent press conference, Atishi, a prominent figure in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), made alarming allegations concerning the health of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, currently detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the excise policy case. She asserted that over the past few days, Kejriwal’s blood sugar levels had consistently soared above 300 mg/dL.

Despite his repeated pleas, she claimed, he was being denied insulin, leading to a further escalation of his blood sugar levels. Atishi further insinuated that this denial of necessary medication was part of a larger plot aimed at harming Kejriwal. However, the Tihar jail administration swiftly rebutted Atishi’s assertions regarding Kejriwal’s health.

According to them, the Chief Minister’s fasting sugar levels remained within acceptable limits and had never exceeded 300 mg/dL. A jail official, speaking anonymously and cited by PTI, stated, “As per the court orders, he has been served home-cooked food and medicines. His health is being watched and looked after by two doctors in the jail.” This statement underscored the jail administration’s commitment to ensuring Kejriwal’s well-being, as mandated by court directives.

In response to Atishi’s claims, a Tihar jail official highlighted that the facility caters to the medical needs of approximately 250 inmates with sugar-related health issues, including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. These individuals receive attentive care from the medical staff within the jail premises.

During her press conference, Atishi vehemently defended Kejriwal, characterizing him as a severe diabetic, and accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of fabricating information regarding his dietary habits. She condemned what she perceived as the ED’s attempts to obstruct Kejriwal’s access to home-cooked meals, insinuating political motivations behind these actions.

Atishi revealed that Kejriwal’s diabetes is a longstanding condition, spanning three decades. To manage his blood sugar levels, he adheres to a strict regimen, which includes the administration of 54 units of insulin daily. She clarified that Kejriwal is permitted to consume tea and sweets prepared with the sweetener “Erythritol,” as recommended by his medical professionals.

Furthermore, Atishi refuted the ED’s claims that Kejriwal was deliberately elevating his blood sugar levels by consuming bananas. She dismissed these allegations as baseless and part of a broader campaign to discredit the Chief Minister.

During her address, Atishi directed a message to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), urging them to seek advice from diabetes specialists. She emphasized that medical professionals typically recommend that individuals with severe diabetes keep bananas, toffees, or chocolates on hand for emergency situations.

This precaution is advised due to the potential for sudden drops in blood sugar levels, which could endanger the lives of individuals with serious diabetic conditions. In response to the allegations raised by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding Chief Minister Kejriwal’s purported lack of insulin during his time in Tihar jail, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena instructed the Director General (DG) of Prisons to furnish a detailed and factual report on the matter.
